Various methods are available to cure plantar warts, which basically occurs due to a virus namely human papilloma virus (HPV). In most of the cases, people prefer to cure plantar warts with the help of medical aid but it is also self curable. Plantar warts can easily be treated with the help of over-the-counter treatment, but it is not helpful in the cases when you have an impaired immune system or you are suffering from diabetes or if you are pregnant. It is sensible to consult a specialist doctor for help. There is no method which is more than 73% effective as found in a medical review. [1] Generally, methods which are recommended for its cure are less painful and minimal destructive. Basically, there are two methods to cure plantar warts which are discussed below:
Common cures:
Salicylic Acid:
In order to cure plantar warts, a 40 percent salicylic acid solution or patch is required, which peels off the infected skin in a small amount of time. For effective treatment, the solution is applied once or twice in a day, but do avoid the contact of acid with healthy skin.
Duct Tape:
Nowadays, Duct tape therapy is commonly used to cure plantar warts. The infected portion is covered in canal string for six days and then the wart is covered with water and warts are rubbed with a pumice stone and the process is repeated for up to two months.
Freezing:
In this type of cure, liquid nitrogen is applied on the wart using sprayers. It causes a swelling around the wart, and the dead tissue gets covered off within a week. [1] As it is a painful method, so, it is not normally used to cure plantar warts in young children.
Aggressive Treatment:
Minor Surgery:
In this process, wart is destroyed with the help of an electric needle in a process called electro desiccation and curettage. If is not performed carefully, it may leave a mark on the skin so this is least preferred to cure plantar parts.
Laser surgery:
Immovable warts are eliminated with the help of several types of lasers. Laser surgery is usually expensive and also painful, so, it takes more time to heal as compared with other methods used to cure plantar warts.
Immunotherapy:
In this process, warts are injected with interferon, which is a medication that boosts the immune system's instinct in order to reject warts or the warts are injected with a foreign substance (antigen) that excites the immune system. This is the most efficient method to cure plantar warts.
